- 1 cup Mayonnaise
- 1 tbsp Capers (drained and chopped)
- 2 tbsp Gherkins (finely chopped)
- 1 tbsp Shallots (minced)
- 1 tsp Dijon Mustard
- 1 tbsp Lemon Juice
- 1 tbsp Fresh Dill (chopped)
- 1 pinch Salt
- 1 pinch Black Pepper
-
Chop your gherkins and capers into very small pieces. Make sure they are uniform in size.
-
Peel and mince the shallot very finely now. You do not want large chunks of onion.
-
Place the mayonnaise into your small mixing bowl. Add the chopped pickles, capers, and shallots.
-
Squeeze fresh lemon juice into the bowl carefully. Add the Dijon mustard and chopped fresh dill.
-
Mix everything together until the sauce is very smooth. Taste and add salt and pepper to match your own taste.
Chill the sauce for thirty minutes before you serve it.
Always use fresh dill instead of dried herbs for flavor.
Chop the ingredients by hand for the best chunky texture.
Use a high-quality mayonnaise for a much richer tasting sauce.
Add a pinch of sugar if the sauce feels too sour.
