Equipment

  • Bundt Pan
  • Mixing Bowls
  • Electric Mixer
  • Measuring cups
  • Measuring Spoons
  • Whisk
  • Spatula
  • Cooling Rack

Ingredients

  • 3 cups ALL PURPOSE FLOUR
  • 1 tsp BAKING SODA
  • 1/2 tsp SALT
  • 2 tsp GROUND CINNAMON
  • 1 cup UNSALTED BUTTER
  • 2 cups GRANULATED SUGAR
  • 1/2 cup BROWN SUGAR
  • 4 LARGE EGGS
  • 1 cup SOUR CREAM
  • 2 tsp VANILLA EXTRACT
  • 1.5 cups CHOPPED PECANS

Instructions

Step 1:

  • Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Grease your bundt pan with plenty of butter. Dust it with a little bit of flour.

Step 2:

  • Cream the butter and white sugar together. Use your mixer on a medium speed. Do this until the mix is fluffy.

Step 3:

  • Add the eggs one at a time. Mix well after you add each egg. This keeps the batter very smooth.

Step 4:

  • Stir in the vanilla and sour cream. Mix it until it looks very creamy. Do not overmix the batter yet.

Step 5:

  • Whisk the flour and baking soda together. Add the salt and the ground cinnamon. Stir them in a separate small bowl.

Step 6:

  • Slowly add the dry mix to the wet. Use a low speed on your mixer. Stop when the flour just disappears.

Step 7:

  • Fold in the chopped pecans with a spatula. Be very gentle with the batter now. You want to keep the air inside.

Step 8:

  • Pour the batter into the prepared pan. Smooth the top with your flat spatula. Tap the pan on the counter once.

Step 9:

  • Bake the cake for fifty to sixty minutes. Check it with a long wooden toothpick. It should come out very clean.

Step 10:

  • Let the cake cool in the pan. Wait for at least ten minutes first. Then flip it onto a wire rack.

Notes

  • Grease every nook of the bundt pan well. This prevents the cake from sticking.
  • Use room temperature eggs for a better rise. They mix into the batter much faster.
  • Do not overmix the batter after adding flour. This keeps the cake very soft.
  • Chop pecans into small and medium pieces. This gives a better texture variety.
  • Check the oven temperature with a thermometer. Accurate heat is key for baking.
  • Sift the flour to avoid any dry lumps. It makes the cake crumb very even.
  • Let the cake cool completely before slicing it. It helps the shape stay firm.
