Equipment

  • 9x13 Baking Dish
  • Large Mixing Bowl
  • Whisk
  • Small Saucepan
  • Chef's Knife
  • Cutting Board
  • Measuring cups

Ingredients

  • 6 units ENGLISH MUFFINS
  • 1 lb CANADIAN BACON
  • 8 large EGGS
  • 2 cups WHOLE MILK
  • 1/2 cup HEAVY CREAM
  • 1 packet HOLLANDAISE SAUCE
  • 2 tbsp BUTTER
  • 1/4 cup GREEN ONIONS
  • 1 tsp PAPRIKA

Instructions

Step 1:

  • Grease your baking dish with some softened butter. Make sure to cover the bottom and sides. This prevents the eggs from sticking to it.

Step 2:

  • Cut your English muffins into small, even cubes. Aim for one-inch pieces for the best texture. Place the cubes into the prepared baking dish.

Step 3:

  • Chop the Canadian bacon into small bite-sized squares. You can also use ham if you prefer. Sprinkle the meat evenly over the bread cubes.

Step 4:

  • Crack the eggs into your large mixing bowl. Add the milk and the heavy cream now. Whisk them together until they are very smooth.

Step 5:

  • Add a pinch of salt and black pepper. You can also add some garlic powder here. Whisk again to distribute the spices well.

Step 6:

  • Pour the egg mixture over the muffin cubes. Ensure every piece of bread is covered well. This helps the bread soak up the liquid.

Step 7:

  • Cover the dish tightly with some plastic wrap. Place the dish in the fridge for an hour. You can even leave it there all night.

Step 8:

  • Preheat your oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit now. Remove the plastic wrap from the baking dish. Let it sit at room temperature for a bit.

Step 9:

  • Bake the casserole for 35 to 40 minutes. The top should look golden and very puffy. The eggs should be set in the middle.

Step 10:

  • Prepare the hollandaise sauce according to the package. Use a small saucepan on the stove top. Keep it warm until the casserole is ready.

Step 11:

  • Remove the hot casserole from the oven carefully. Let it cool for five minutes before cutting. Drizzle the warm hollandaise sauce over the top.

Step 12:

  • Garnish with chopped green onions and some paprika. Serve the dish while it is still warm. Your guests will love this beautiful breakfast meal.

Notes

  • Use high-quality Canadian bacon for the best smoky flavor.
  • Make the casserole the night before to save time.
  • Toasting the muffin cubes adds a nice extra crunch.
  • Do not overcook the eggs or they get rubbery.
  • Double the hollandaise sauce if you love extra creaminess.
  • Let the dish rest before slicing for clean pieces.
