Equipment

  • Large Mixing Bowl
  • Baking Dish
  • Whisk
  • Measuring cups
  • Small Saucepan
  • Wooden Spoon
  • Plastic Bag

Ingredients

  • 16 oz BROCCOLI FLORETS
  • 10.5 oz CREAM OF MUSHROOM SOUP
  • 1 cup MAYONNAISE
  • 2 large EGGS
  • 2 cups SHARP CHEDDAR CHEESE
  • 1/4 cup MELTED BUTTER
  • 1 cup CRUSHED RITZ CRACKERS
  • 1/2 tsp BLACK PEPPER

Instructions

Step 1:

  • Preheat your oven to 350 degrees now. Grease your 13x9 inch baking dish. Use butter or a non-stick spray.

Step 2:

  • Place the broccoli in a large bowl. If using fresh, steam it first. Frozen broccoli should be thawed and drained.

Step 3:

  • Get another bowl for the wet parts. Mix the soup and the mayonnaise. Whisk them until they are smooth.

Step 4:

  • Crack the eggs into the soup mix. Whisk them in very carefully now. Ensure the eggs are fully blended.

Step 5:

  • Add the shredded cheddar cheese next. Stir it into the creamy sauce. This makes the mix very thick.

Step 6:

  • Pour the sauce over the broccoli. Stir it until every floret is coated. Use your large wooden spoon here.
  • Step 7:
  • Transfer the mixture to the baking dish. Spread it out into an even layer. Make sure the corners are filled.
  • Step 8:
  • Melt your butter in a small pan. Place the crushed crackers in a bag. Pour the butter over the crackers.
  • Step 9:
  • Shake the bag to coat the crackers. Sprinkle them over the top evenly. This creates the crunchy golden crust.
  • Step 10:
  • Place the dish in the oven now. Bake it for about 35 minutes. The cheese should be bubbling hot.

Notes

  • Tip 1: Always drain your broccoli very well first.
  • Tip 2: Use sharp cheddar for the best flavor profile.
  • Tip 3: Do not overcook the broccoli before baking it.
  • Tip 4: Let the dish rest before you slice it.
  • Tip 5: You can add sautéed onions for extra flavor.
  • Tip 6: Try using garlic powder for a savory kick.
  • Tip 7: Ritz crackers provide the most authentic buttery taste.
