Equipment

  • Large Pot
  • Colander
  • Large Mixing Bowl
  • Baking Dish
  • Skillet
  • Wooden Spoon
  • Aluminum Foil

Ingredients

  • 1 lb SPAGHETTI
  • 3 cups CHICKEN
  • 1 lb MUSHROOMS
  • 1 can CREAM OF MUSHROOM SOUP
  • 1 cup SOUR CREAM
  • 1/2 cup CHICKEN BROTH
  • 1 whole ONION
  • 4 tbsp BUTTER
  • 1/2 cup PARMESAN CHEESE
  • 1 cup CHEDDAR CHEESE
  • 1 tsp BLACK PEPPER

Instructions

Step 1:

  • Boil a large pot of salted water. Add the spaghetti noodles to the pot. Cook them until they are just soft. Drain the water in a colander. Set the noodles aside for later.

Step 2:

  • Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Grease your large baking dish with butter. This prevents the pasta from sticking.

Step 3:

  • Melt butter in a large skillet over heat. Add the chopped onions and sliced mushrooms. Cook them until they are very soft. This should take about five minutes.

Step 4:

  • Grab your large mixing bowl for the sauce. Mix the soup, sour cream, and broth. Stir until the mixture is very smooth. Add the black pepper for extra flavor.

Step 5:

  • Add the cooked chicken to the bowl. Put the cooked spaghetti in the bowl too. Toss everything together until it is coated. The sauce should cover every single noodle.

Step 6:

  • Pour the mixture into your greased baking dish. Spread it out evenly with a spoon. Sprinkle the Parmesan and Cheddar cheese on top. Ensure the cheese covers the whole surface.

Step 7:

  • Place the dish into the hot oven. Bake it for about thirty minutes. The top should be bubbly and golden. Serve it while it is still hot.

Notes

  • Use a rotisserie chicken to save some prep time.
  • Do not overcook the pasta before you bake it.
  • Add a splash of white wine for fancy flavor.
  • Use low sodium broth to control the salt level.
  • Squeeze fresh lemon juice for a bright finish.
  • Add frozen peas for a pop of green color.
  • Garnish with fresh parsley to make it look pretty.
  • Let the dish rest for five minutes after baking.
