Instructions
Step 1:
Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Let the oven get hot while you prep.
Step 2:
Grease your large baking dish with some butter. This prevents the seafood from sticking.
Step 3:
Place the skillet over medium heat now. Add a tablespoon of butter to the pan.
Step 4:
Add the onions and celery to the skillet. Sauté them until they are very soft.
Step 5:
Add the minced garlic to the vegetables. Cook for just one minute until fragrant.
Step 6:
In a bowl, mix the soup and cream. Whisk them until the mixture is very smooth.
Step 7:
Stir in the black pepper and paprika. This adds flavor to your creamy sauce.
Step 8:
Add the raw shrimp to the mixing bowl. Then add the sweet crab meat carefully.
Step 9:
Pour in the cooked vegetables from the skillet. Stir everything together very gently now.
Step 10:
Pour the mixture into your greased dish. Spread it out so it is very even.
Step 11:
Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese on top. Use a lot for a cheesy crust.
Step 12:
Crush the Ritz crackers in a small bag. Mix them with the remaining melted butter.
Step 13:
Spread the buttery crackers over the cheese. This will be your crunchy top layer.
Step 14:
Place the dish in the hot oven. Bake it for about thirty minutes total.
Step 15:
Wait for the top to turn golden. The sauce should be bubbling on the sides.
Step 16:
Remove the dish from the oven carefully. Let it sit for five minutes before serving.
Notes
Use fresh seafood for the very best taste.
Do not overcook the shrimp in the oven.
Add a little lemon juice for extra zip.
Make sure the cracker crumbs are small.
Use full-fat sour cream for more richness.
Sharp cheese provides the best flavor profile.
Check the oven often during the last minutes.
