Equipment

  • Large Mixing Bowl
  • Small Glass Jar
  • Whisk
  • Sharp Knife
  • Cutting Board
  • Measuring cups
  • Measuring Spoons

Ingredients

  • 1 bag BROCCOLI SLAW
  • 2 pkgs RAMEN NOODLES
  • 1/2 cup SUNFLOWER SEEDS
  • 1/2 cup SLICED ALMONDS
  • 1/2 cup GREEN ONIONS
  • 1/2 cup VEGETABLE OIL
  • 1/3 cup WHITE SUGAR
  • 1/4 cup APPLE CIDER VINEGAR
  • 1 pkt RAMEN SEASONING

Instructions

Step 1:

  • Get your large mixing bowl ready. Open the bag of fresh broccoli slaw mix. Pour the whole bag into the bowl. Make sure the bowl is completely dry.

Step 2:

  • Take the dry ramen noodle packages. Crush the noodles while they are still closed. This keeps the mess inside the bag. Open the bags and remove the seasoning.

Step 3:

  • Pour the crushed noodles into the bowl. Add the sunflower seeds to the mix. Toss in the sliced almonds as well. These items provide the main crunch.

Step 4:

  • Wash your green onions under cold water. Slice them into very small thin rounds. Put the onions into the large bowl. Stir the dry ingredients together gently.

Step 5:

  • Find a separate small jar or bowl. Pour the vegetable oil into this container. Add the white sugar to the oil. Pour in the apple cider vinegar now.

Step 6:

  • Open one chicken seasoning packet from ramen. Add the powder to the liquid mixture. Whisk the dressing until the sugar dissolves. It should look very smooth and clear.

Step 7:

  • Pour the dressing over the broccoli mixture. Use a large spoon to toss everything. Make sure every bit is coated well. The noodles should start to soak up liquid.

Step 8:

  • Cover the bowl with plastic wrap tightly. Place the bowl in your refrigerator. Let it chill for at least two hours. This makes the salad taste much better.

Notes

Toast the nuts first. This adds a deeper flavor to the slaw.
Use fresh broccoli slaw. Old bags can taste very bitter and soft.
Crush noodles into small bits. This makes the salad easier to eat.
Add the dressing right away. It helps soften the hard dry ramen.
Keep it cold always. The salad tastes best when it is chilled.
